Plot: Becca is forced to enter Barden University when she would rather head to Los Angeles to be a music producer. But her father is a professor at Barden and can get her a free education. (I wish my father would have had the same job. Yes I'm still paying off my student loans). Anyway, when he sees Becca is not really trying to enjoy her college experience, he promises her she can head to L.A next year if she tries to make an effort and joins a club. She decides to join The Bellas, an all-female cappella group. Becca and a bunch of awkward girls must get it together to beat the all-male cappella group The Trouble Makers in the finals.
In My Opinion: Okay, if you're in the mood to watch a movie that is totally different with a twist at the end this is not the movie for you. But if you're in the mood to have a good time this is the movie for you. Pitch Perfect is a combination of Glee, Bring it On, and Bridesmaids. Yes, there is even a scene with someone puking. This movie is hilarious. It is filled with awesome one liners that will have you laughing out loud (at least it had the packed audience at my theatre laughing). The music makes this movie even better. As soon as I got home I had to download some of the songs. The only distraction in the movie is Anna Kendrick, who I think was trying a little too hard to channel Bella from Twilight. She's also gotten too skinny she no longer looks good. I kept wanting to feed her a burger. On the other hand, her voice is amazing. I didn't know she had in her. There are a couple cheesy moments, but like I said before, this is not one of those deep movies that will impact your life. This movie is so much fun you won't want it to end. Warning: You will find yourself dancing towards your car.
It's Rating Time
The Story: 4 out of 5 stars: Yes it has been done before, but it's still fun to watch and it will make you feel good.
The Acting: 5 out of 5 stars: All the characters are amazing even the ones that only have one line. However, Rebel Wilson a.k.a Fat Amy steals the show. When she is not on screen you find yourself counting the minutes until she comes back on. Also Hana Mae Lee, who whispers every line and looks like an Asian Winnie Cooper will have you hollering.
The love interest: 4.5 out of 5 stars: He's kind of dorky looking at first, but once you hear him sing he'll make your heart beat a little faster. Besides, who can't love a guy who's favorite movie is The Breakfast Club.
Overall Rating: 4.9 stars
Bottom line: If you're looking to laugh, have fun, cheer, and listen to some good music go see this movie; you won't be disappointed.
